In the beginning ...
There was a story. That is how it always begins with writers. It doesn't matter what the story is. It doesn't matter if it came from real life or their imagination. It always comes back to the story. Something they wanted to share -- sometimes just with family and friends and sometimes with the whole world. People have been telling stories since the beginning of time. Eventually to preserve the stories, they were written down. At first on rock walls and stone tablets, then animal hydes and eventually on paper. If you're a writer with a story, chances are you already have your story on paper. Maybe it's hand written in a tablet of some kind. And that's pretty good. You can xerox it and let people read it that way. Maybe you've gone farther than that and you have it typed up on your computer. You can print it out whenever you want and give out copies to whomever you might want to share your story with. It's preserved ... It's in a format that can be read and (hopefully) enjoyed by others, but ... It's not a book. That familiar size and shape that you can flip through and put on a shelf and share with people ... And that's where we come in.
